As we all know, watching TV is harmful to our health. A new study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine found that TV entry into the bedroom could increase the risk of obesity in children.
In the new study, scientists at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center analyzed the body scan reports of 369 obese children aged 5 to 18. The results showed that children with TV in the bedroom had a higher body fat level than two times the children without televisions, accounting for the top 25% of obese children. Children who often watch TV in their bedrooms have larger waistlines and higher blood lipids. The new study also found that watching TV for more than 2 hours a day has the same risk. After considering the age, sex, physical activity and diet, the research results are still in place.
Dr Amanda Steiano, the head of the new research, said that about 70% of teenagers had televisions in their bedrooms, and 1/3 of them were overweight or obese. Watching TV in the bedroom is more dangerous than watching TV. The reduction of children's sleep time in bedroom TV is the key reason for increasing the risk of childhood obesity. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children watch TV time should be limited to 2 hours a day.
